Rendering 2 - Shadows | ISO | 886Mb
With the fundamentals of lighting and rendering understood, this lecture moves on to tackle shadows in-depth. The lecture describes the differences between raytraced and depth-mapped shadows, as well as some specific shadow techniques. Effectively faking shadows, the use of gobos, reusing disk-based shadow maps, soft spot techniques, and compositing shadows are discussed and demonstrated. Rendering and shadow efficiency are stressed throughout, and several techniques are given. An example scene is used to demonstrate how several of the techniques come together effectively.
